We recently had the pleasure of sharing lunch with Page Knudsen Cowles, the daughter of one of Oregon’s wine pioneers, Cal Knudsen.
Seated on the deck of the family cabin overlooking the Knudsen Vineyards in the beautiful hills of Dundee, Page shared bottles of 1999 and 2000 Argyle Blanc de Blancs. Cal’s love for sparking wine led him to embark on a partnership with Argyle. The sparkling vineyard designates, named after her Mother Julia Lee, came from blocks of land that sit right below the cabin.
Page also shared the story of how her father and Dick Erath started the first commercial winery in what is now the Dundee Hills AVA. For the full story and exciting news about a new label from the Knudsen family see our story in the Oregon Wine Press.
