Argyle Winery “The Art of Sparkling” Gift Pack

Argyle Winery Methode Champenoise Sparkling Wine, 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay ~$100 for gift pack.

 

This was the sparkling wine that EVERYONE in our tasting group liked.  Hot buttered toast, steamy croissant and green apple on the nose.  The palate was a mix of high notes – green apple, grapefruit pith, and lime peel, plus confected – toasted marshmallow – all with a fantastic finish.  Everyone just kept  saying “I REALLY like this.”

We have a feeling anyone on your gift list would like it as well because not only is the wine lovely but so are the bottles. The “Art of Sparkling” comes in a gift set of 3.  I am going to be honest and say I am glad we only opened one for our tasting.  Two bottles for me, yippee skippy.

The labels were designed through a contest for students of the Pacific Northwest College of Art.  Three students were selected for an intensive education on how Argyle makes sparkling. They then got to see their visual interpretations proudly applied on these limited edition bottles.  AND they got scholarships.  Yippee Skippy for them.

The three vibrant labels range from literal to abstract:

• Natural and mysterious, the design by Ann-Marie Christin Engleberth merges a grape vine with filbert leaves and illustratesthe rabbit that resides in the Argyle gardens. Engleberth moved to the U.S. from Germany at age five. With a fascination for the natural world, a majority of her artwork is inspired by the German countryside and fairytales from her childhood.
• A tranquil dark blue, white and black depiction of a summer night by Subin Yang, inspired by the hills of Dundee and the way nature helps grow the vineyard for the winemaking process. Yang, a Seoul, South Korea native, describes her art style as “organized chaos” appealing to adults and children alike.
• A high energy white, yellow and black design by Lindsey Walker which evokes the elevation, soil, and sunlight of Argyle’s vineyards. Walker, an interdisciplinary artist from California, focuses her work on abstract and semi-representational forms which escape literal concrete meaning
