Simple enough for a weeknight and elegant enough to entertain. It easily scales down for a romantic seating for two or up for a dinner party. Bake while enjoying the main course and enjoy the tantalizing aroma of baked cinnamon sugar signaling time for dessert.
Ingredients
  • 1 single pie crust
  • 2 medium apples - peeled, cored, cut in half
  • 1 egg white lightly beaten
  • ½ Tbs. granulated sugar mixed with ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 4 Tbs. light brown sugar
  • cinnamon and nutmeg to taste
  • Garnish - warmed maple syrup and toasted walnuts
Instructions
  1. Roll out pie dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter and ⅛ inch thick
  2. Cut circle into quarters
  3. Spread 1 Tbs. brown sugar on each wedge (spread out to size of apple half)
  4. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over sugar and top with apple half.
  5. Brush edges of dough with egg white.

  9. Pour small pool of warmed maple syrup on each plate. Top with baked apple. Garnish with nuts.
